The Bell

On the 20th of March the Church bell was removed from the tower for repair. There was a small crack in the bell which was likely to get worse if not fixed. The bell was originally hung for full‑circle ringing but some time ago this was stopped to protect the ancient frame and it has been rung since by simply pulling the clapper against the bell with the rope. The clapper has been fitted with a mechanism now to allow it to strike the bell and come away more quickly.
