Tuesday 8th March 2011 - Mardi Gras or Shrove Tuesday

An annual tradition our Mardi Gras get together. On the last evening before Lent we all get to gether for a chips and bits supper to fill us up before we prepare for Easter. Fr Yenda presented one of his quizzes (the best one yet) to stretch our little grey cells and then all was finished off with a raffle. The evening raised welcome funds to put towards the maintainance of our Church buildings.

Mardi Gras - Tuesday 24th February 2009

Shrove Tuesday saw us all getting together in the Church hall for our annual Mardi Gras celebration. Be it Fish, chicken or vegetable rolls it came with chips, a Father Yenda quiz and a raffle. Over a hundred pounds were raised for the 'Friends' to put towards the next big project. This will be the west window (at the back of the Church) which after the stone work has been repaired may allow us to once again use the big doors beneath it.

February 5th 2008 - Mardi-Gras Celebration!

A really great turn out this year at our Mardi Gras celebration on Shrove Tuesday! Lots of us joined
together to enjoy our fish or chicken 'n' chips and to have a good chat. We had our 'little grey cells' stretched by
one of Fr Yenda's quizzes and although there were joint winners neither managed 20 out of 20! Doesn't say much for the rest of us...
The evening was topped off with one of St Mary's legendary raffles which left one of us at least wishing they'd done the pools
this week after a lucky run... A great evening with over £100 added to the 'Friends of St Mary's' piggy bank.

February 28th 2006 - Mardi-Gras Bash!

For the first time this year we held a Mardi Gras in the Church hall
 - a fish 'n' chip supper with pie to finish off and a sing along with Mrs Mills on the old Joanna!
(AKA Fr Yenda on our newly acquired Hall organ)... Thanks to George for the Pics -
Looks like all had a great time.

Lent Starts Tomorrow...
