With God's help, caring for each other and those around us.

Saturday 17th July - Farewell to Sue & George

Today we gathered to say a fond 'Adiós' to George and Sue who after many years at St Mary's are moving out to the wilds of East Anglia. George has been for many years one of our Church wardens and he will be very much missed for all his hard work looking after our wonderful building. He will especially be remembered for being the driving force in seeing through the completion of probably the most important building project in the Church's near nine hundred year history; George guided through the final stages of the building of our loo... All the best wishes to your both in your new life on the Broads - we will be keeping in touch - Lots of love from St Mary's.

 Saturday 3rd July - Fr Yenda's 10th Anniversary

On Saturday 3rd July Fr Yenda celebrated 10 years as a Priest.
It is 10 years since Fr Yenda became a Priest so today we gathered together to celebrate with a special Solemn Eucharist.
Fr Miller from South Sheilds came to preach at the service, Fr Yenda was a curate in his parish in the early days and we were all looking forward to hearing the secrets from Fr Yenda's earlier years. You can see a few pics from these years elsewhere on this site and Fr Miller had more to add at the start of his Homily. You can see from the fourth row of pics that a couple of candid shots of Fr Yenda tell the story so well - first a bit of 'a laugh' to the 'Oh No! not that story...'.

It was great to have Fr Miller with us to celebrate this special day and we hope that he will visit again in the future.

Sunday 13th June - Pam's BBQ

Photographs from the Church BBQ hosted by Pam - the weather was kind for the afternoon and everyone looks like they are having a great time. Many thanks to Pam and all who helped her and to George for the pics...

Another birthday to celebrate...

Sunday 25th October - a cake for Rob who had his birthday
during the week, three score years. Rob one of our altar servers has given
many dedicated years serving at St Marys. Congratulations.

Rachel & Paul's coffee morning - Saturday 5th September 2009

On Saturday Rachel and Paul opened up their home for a coffee morning to
raise funds for St Mary's - looking at the smiling faces a great time was had by all.
Looking at the variety of things to enjoy on the table we can see all the time and effort
that must have gone into into making this a successful event - many thanks to Rachel and Paul.
Thanks to George for the photographs.

The Guild Of Servants of the Sanctuary - Tuesday 25th August

On Tuesday evening we were joined by members of the GSS for
the Solemn Eucharist. This service included a procession and the
opportunity to venerate the relic of St Joseph Calasanz.
(Patron of students, universities, colleges & schools)

Pam's BBQ - 26th July 2009

It's midsummer and time for a little alfresco dining. Today we were all invited to
Pam's for a BBQ. Not a lot of sun today but no rain either and all seem to have had
a grand time. Thanks to Pam for all the hard work and George for the pics.

Today the statues relocated from the sanctuary to the west window
were re-dedicated with special prayers for the Dickinson family.

memory of Norman and St Mary in memory of Carly.

Church Pilgrimage to Walsingham - 12th August 2008

It started out as a very wet and windy day but as we travelled up towards the North Norfolk coast
we chased the clouds away in front of us to enjoy a very pleasant time at the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.

When we arrived Fr Yenda celebrated Mass for us in The Holy House at the beautiful Shrine using our familiar
traditional liturgy, then it was off to the canteen for a very pleasant lunch. After nourishment for our souls and bodies
some took time to explore the village whilst others stayed to 'take the waters' during the 'sprinkling service' where many
visitors joined for blessing with the water from the Holy Well (the original sign of where the Holy House should be built).

The gardens at the shrine are most relaxing and many of us spent the remainder of our time in Walsingham enjoying the sunshine
exploring the site and allowing our devotions to be focused by the many lovely icons and images.

St Alban's Day - 20th June 2008

On Friday night a few of us gathered to celebrate Mass on the Feast day of St Alban
the first English Martyr and the Patron Saint of our Diocese.

Trinity III - Sunday 8th June

This morning we were privileged to welcome James, his family and friends for Holy Baptism during the
Parish Eucharist - it is always a great joy when we are able to welcome a child into Christ's family together.

We also had the blessing of some new cruets donated by Fr Yenda and dedicated to his nephew Freddie.
I will endeavour to get some pictures of these in close up, together with close ups of the other 'tools' and
'vessels' used in our services along with explanations as to how they are used in the near future.

Saturday 12th January 2008
During the week someone had a Birthday - as life officially begins at 40 a party is in order.

2nd Sunday in Advent - Sunday 9th December 2007

A couple of special Birthdays were celebrated this week, Fr Yenda's Mum
and Sue (who bakes loads of cakes and does a nice line in cream tea's).

A big Birthday and a flaming cake... 23rd March 2007

Today we put our wonderful organist Joan Clark to the test - it would be impolite to say how many
candles she needed to blow out but suffice to say she summoned up enough puff before the cake was over cooked...

A Birthday Surprise 2006

Sunday 3rd of December 2006 - not only celebrating the first Sunday in Advent but
also taking time to wish Fr Yenda's Mum all the best for her impending Birthday - it is a
big one so we all hope she has a great day.
