Live music
at St Mary's
The Shambles - 26th September 2009
On Saturday we were visited by The
Shambles who entertained us to their usual high standard with numbers from
Gershwin, Goodwin & of course Glen (Miller). Old favourites were played along
with new numbers all introduced with banter and jokes and a great interval
spread from the ladies of St Mary's meant we all had a great evening.

Piano & Violin Recital - 8th August 2009
On Saturday evening we were privileged to be entertained by
Chloe Werner & Jon-Luke Kirton.
With a program that spanned from Beethoven to
Bowen they enthralled us
with their virtuosity, Chloe with the violin &
Jon-Luke at the piano.
The evening raised over £100 towards the work of the
'Friends of St Mary's'
to preserve the fabric of our ancient building.

Many thanks to Chloe & Jon-Luke.

For a third year in succession Fr Yenda has taken to the Piano to raise funds
for the
'Friends of St Mary's' to help with their work looking after the Church. Thanks
to
Fr Yenda for the Key signatures and cold (a very cold day and he didn't want to
spend the money he raised on heating) and thanks to the many who dropped in
during the
day to support (or check up) on him.
Ancient & Modern all in one day... 14th
October 2006

Fr Yenda successfully played through the hymn book in just under six hours
to raise money towards the Church building projects.
With sponsor money and the kind donations of visitors to the
Church throughout the day over six hundred pounds was raised.
Many thanks to Fr Yenda for his endeavours...
Somethin' Blue - Friday

Friday the 19th May saw a return visit to St Mary's by 'Somethin' Blue' a local
Sax Ensemble.
The church was full and everyone enjoyed a program ranging from early jazz, to
modern swing, big band to Bach.
This is the third visit by Somethin' Blue to our Church and we are every
grateful to them for their support and help in our fundraising efforts to
maintain this ancient building.
April 1st - The Shambles

The Shambles Big Band, a regular visitor to St Mary's helping us raise the cash
for our much needed 'relief' ~ just short of £200 added to the funds.
A great evening was enjoyed by the packed Church, tapping toes to the sounds of
Ellington & Mancini etc.
Friday March 17th - Betty Boop
Big Band sounds - 'Betty Boop' entertained us - and a great evening was
had by all.
With a Big Band sound from the forties through to the eighties all had a foot
tapping evening .

Many thanks to 'Betty Boop' for their continuing support for
St Mary's.
